LOCATION - Lat 37°21'49.82", long 79°42'22.89" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Bedford County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 03010101, on Quarterwood Road near entrance to Montvale Park, 10 mi west of Bedford. Owner: Bedford County.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 201 ft. Upper casing diameter 6.62 in; top of first opening 95 ft, bottom of last opening 190 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 1,070 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: TOP OF CASING, 2.40 ft above land-surface datum, May 14, 2008 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - September 2008 to current year.
GAGE - Electronic data logger and pressure transducer, 15-minute record interval.
COOPERATION - Records provided by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
REMARKS - Well is located in layered pyroxene granulite gneiss of Middle Proterozoic age. Water level affected by magnitude 5.8 Mineral, VA earthquake on Aug. 23, 2011.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level recorded, 31.42 ft. below land-surface datum, May 9, 2016; lowest recorded, 55.94 ft below land-surface datum, Feb. 23, 2015.
