LOCATION - Lat 41°29'16", long 73°12'17" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, New Haven County, CT, Hydrologic Unit 01100005, Hunter Ridge, 10 ft from end of cul-de-sac, Southbury; Southbury quadrangle.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 82 ft. Upper casing diameter 2 in; top of first opening 77 ft, bottom of last opening 82 ft. Augered, unused, water-table well, PVC casing.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 468.71 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: measure at black mark on PVC riser inside enclosure, 3.35 ft above land-surface datum, Aug. 19, 1993 to present; measure at black mark on PVC riser inside enclosure, 472.06 ft above land-surface datum, Sep. 8, 2016 to present. Prior to September 8, 2016, land-surface datum was reported as 465 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, from topographic map. Prior to January 12, 2003 measuring point was top of steel protective casing, 1.20 ft above land-surface datum.
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1993 to current year.
GAGE - Aug. 1993 through Sep. 1994 measurements made biweekly with a chalked tape; Oct. 1994 through Sep. 1996 measurements made biweekly with an electric tape; Oct. 1996 to current year, measurements made monthly or bimonthly with an electric tape. Additional measurements made Mar. to Sep. 2002 due to drought conditions. Submersible pressure transducer/data logger Mar. 19, 2002, to current year, collects 1-hour water-level data. Satellite telemetry at station. All measurements made by USGS personnel.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level measured, 10.77 ft below land-surface datum (recorded), January 14, 2024; lowest water level measured, 26.37 ft below land-surface datum (recorded), Nov. 18-19, 2016.
