09404110 HAVASU CREEK AT SUPAI, AZ
LOCATION - Lat 36°13'10.08", long 112°41'24.36" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Coconino County, AZ, Hydrologic Unit 15010004, on the Havasupai Indian Reservation, on the left bank of Havasu Creek in Cataract Canyon, about 1.5 mi upstream from the village of Supai (unsurveyed) and about 200 feet upstream of where the (usually) dry wash channel from Hualapai Canyon enters Cataract Canyon.
DRAINAGE AREA - 2,809 mi², including 209 mi², which is non-contributing.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Sept. 1995 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Elevation of gage is 3,240 ft above sea level from topographic map.
REMARKS - Records good except for estimated daily discharge and discharges greater than 100 ft³/s, which are poor. Several diversions and small impoundments upstream for irrigation and public supply.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Jan. 2, 1910, maximum discharge unknown, flood wave reported as about 20 ft high through Supai Village. Sept. 3, 1990, 20,300 ft³/s, based on slope-area computation for site 12 mi downstream at the mouth. Flood wave through Supai Village reported as about 14 ft for this event; minimum discharge unknown.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 6,000 ft³/s (from slope-area measurement), August 17, 2008, gage height, unknown; minimum daily, 56 ft³/s, Dec. 15, 1998.
