  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

USGS Water-Year Summary 2023
02245260 DEEP CREEK AT SPUDS, FL
LOCATION - Lat 29°43'24.17", long 81°29'03.72" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in sec.16, T.9 S., R.28 E., St. Johns County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03080103, near left bank, 50 ft upstream of State Road 207 bridge, 0.5 mi east of Spuds, and 4.4 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 60.5 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR FL-96-1A: Discharge, 1995. WDR FL-04-1A: Discharge, 2003.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 1992 to September 2010, October 2010 to current year (filtered).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, acoustic velocity meter, and data-collection platform. Datum of gage is NAVD of 1988, prior to November 2017 gage located 0.5 mi downstream on right bank at abandoned Florida East Coast Railway crossing.  Datum of gage was at NGVD of 1929 and 0.99 ft below NAVD of 1988. Prior to October 2007 datum of gage 1.08 ft lower.
COOPERATION - This gage is monitored in cooperation with the St. Johns River Water Management District.
REMARKS - Discharge not published some days due to bad or missing gage-height or velocity data. Flow affected by tides in the St. Johns River. Streamflow at this site is significantly affected by astronomical tides. Daily mean discharge was computed from filtered unit value discharge data. The Godin low-pass filter was used to remove principal tidal frequencies from unit values. By convention, the U.S. Geological Survey has established ebb (seaward) flows as positive flow and flood (landward) flows as negative flows. The residuals are not total freshwater flows but are a combination of freshwater flows and water storage caused by higher and lower mean sea levels and storm surges from tropical storm events. Instantaneous discharge computed from index-velocity linear regression relation and gage height rating.

Gages were removed on Sept. 16, 2017 due to maintenance at the structure and re-installed on Nov. 16, 2017.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD -
SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: May 2002 to September 2016 (discontinued).
WATER TEMPERATURE: May 2002 to September 2016 (discontinued).
DISSOLVED OXYGEN: May 2002 to September 2016 (discontinued).
TURBIDITY: May 2002 to September 2016 (discontinued).
INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality monitor and data-collection platform.
REMARKS - Extremes for current year and extremes for period of daily record are based on recorded values and may have been exceeded during periods of no record. May 2002 to September 2008; water temperature, specific conductance and dissolved oxygen published as daily mean. October 2008 to September 2014; water temperature, specific conductance and dissolved oxygen published as instantaneous maximum and minimum. October 2014 to September 2016; water temperature, specific conductance, dissolved oxygen, and turbidity published as instantaneous maximum and minimum, and daily mean. Period of record extremes updated to reflect instantaneous maximum and minimum. Turbidity data was collected using a YSI 6136 optical turbidity probe. The manufacturers stated precision is +/-2% of the reading or +/-0.3 NTU, whichever is greater. Computed daily values between -0.3 and zero are reported as 0.0 FNU to account for this error. Formazin Nephelometric Unit values below 10 are reported to the nearest 0.1 FNU.
