LOCATION.--Lat 40°59'34", long 74°16'44" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Pompton Lakes Borough, Passaic County, NJ, Hydrologic Unit 02030103, on right bank at Pompton Dam, 450 ft upstream from bridge on Paterson-Hamburg Turnpike in Pompton Lakes, and 2.0 mi upstream from mouth. DRAINAGE AREA.--160 mi². PERIOD OF RECORD.--Continuous-record discharge station, October 1921 to November 2004, published as "Ramapo River at Pompton Lakes, NJ (01388000)". Continuous-record gage-height station, October 2009 to current. GAGE.--Water-stage recorder with telemetry. Datum of gage is 190.96 ft above NGVD of 1929. Prior to Oct 1, 1981, at datum 10.0 ft higher. REMARKS.--Since April 2007, two flood gates in dam control lake level.
