SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

LOCATION.--Lat 40°22'25", long 74°37'06" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, South Brunswick Twp, Middlesex County, NJ, Hydrologic Unit 02030105, at canal lock in Kingston, near dam at Carnegie Lake, 160 ft upstream from bridge on State Route 27.
PERIOD OF RECORD.--Operated as a continuous-record gaging station, water years 1961-91. Miscellaneous measurements, water years 1997, 2002-03, 2005-07, 2009, 2011.
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 40.00 ft above NGVD of 1929.
REMARKS.--The canal diverts water from the Delaware River at Raven Rock and discharges into Raritan River at New Brunswick. Some water may be released to the Millstone River 500 ft and 2.3 mi above station. A new gage was put into operation 6.3 mi upstream at Port Mercer on Aug 1, 1990 (see 01460440). Satellite telemetry at station.
