LOCATION.--Lat 44°51'10", long 92°14'18", in SE 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.6, T.27 N., R.15 W., Pierce County, Hydrologic Unit 07050005, on right bank 370 ft downstream from flood control dam, 1,900 ft upstream from Mines Creek, at Spring Valley.

GAGE.--Water-stage recorder, crest-stage gage, and rock weir. Datum of gage is 900.34 ft NAVD88 (GNSS). Prior to July 31, 1957, nonrecording gage at site 850 ft downstream at datum of 912.45 ft above NGVD1929. Aug. 1, 1957 to June 6, 1966 nonrecording gage at downstream site at datum of 910.45 ft above NVGD 1929. June 7, 1966 to Oct. 31, 1968 nonrecording gage at downstream site at datum of 909.45 ft above NGVD 1929. Nov. 1, 1968 to Sept. 3, 2003 water-stage recorder, crest-stage gage, and metal v-notch sharp-crested weir at site 400 ft. down-stream at same datum.

REMARKS.--Flood control dam constructed 1965-1969. Low flow slightly regulated and high flow completely regulated by flood-control dam 370 ft upstream. Data-collection platform at station.

EXTREMES OUTSIDE OF PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum stage since at least 1894, that of Sept. 18, 1942, 19.98 ft, with datum at 909.45 ft above NVGD 1929, from floodmarks, discharge, 33,000 cubic feet per second estimated by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on basis of slope-area measurement by Geological Survey of peak discharge of 39,000 cubic feet per second at Elmwood, drainage area, 91.9 square miles.
