LOCATION - Lat 42°40'57", long 72°06'56" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Worcester County, MA, Hydrologic Unit 01080202, on right bank 100 ft downstream from bridge, 3 mi upstream from mouth, and 3.5 mi west of Winchendon.
DRAINAGE AREA - 19.4 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 451: 1916. WSP 871: Drainage area. WSP 1051: 1919, 1922-24. WSP 1301: 1917(M), 1919-24(M), 1926-27(M), 1929(M), 1931-35(M).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Discharge: May 1916 to current year. Monthly discharge only October 1917 to July 1918 (published in WSP 1301) and September 1935 to September 1936. Water-quality records: August 1994.
GAGE - Data Collection Platform with satellite telemeter. Datum of gage is 848.95 ft above NAVD 1988. Prior to May 11, 2020, datum reported as 849.67 ft above NGVD 1929. Prior to Sept. 11, 1936, non-recording gage on left bank at same datum.
COOPERATION - Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, Office of Water Resources.
REMARKS - Records good except those for estimated daily discharges, which are fair. Prior to 1962, occasional diurnal fluctuation at low flow by mill upstream; prior to 1953, regulation at low flow by mill and ponds.

The historical peak flow of 3,000 cfs on Sept. 21, 1938 is based on rating curve extended above 770 ft³/s on basis of contracted-opening measurements at gage heights 8.4 ft and 9.90 ft.
