01408900 CEDAR CREEK AT WESTERN BOULEVARD, NEAR LANOKA HARBOR, NJ
LOCATION - Lat 39°52'45", long 74°11'26" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Berkeley Township, Ocean County, NJ, Hydrologic Unit 02040301, on downstream side of Western Boulevard bridge, 1 mi south of Crystal Lake, 1.7 mi northwest of Lanoka Harbor, and 4.2 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 49.9 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Continuous-record discharge station, July 1932 to September 1958, October 1970 to September 1971, October 2003 to current year. Annual maximum tide gage, water years 1962, 1979-85, 1993. Prior to May 1, 2012 published as Cedar Creek at Lanoka Harbor (station 01409000).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with telemetry and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 1.81 ft above NAVD 1988. Prior to May 1, 2012, gage was located 2.2 mi downstream, 50 ft upstream from bridge on U.S. Highway 9, at a datum of 1.21 ft below NAVD 1988 and drainage area of 53.3 mi².
REMARKS - Records fair, except for estimated discharges, which are poor. Flow occasionally regulated by gate operations at lakes and cranberry bogs upstream. Daily mean discharges prior to May 2012 were adjusted on basis of regression using concurrent discharge measurements at the former and current sites. Annual maximum discharges prior to the 2012 water year were adjusted on the basis of change in drainage area and attenuation between the former and current sites.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 1,000 ft³/s, Oct 28, 1943, gage height, 4.50 ft, site and datum then in use, maximum gage height, 8.18 ft, Sep 6, 2012, present datum; minimum discharge since May 1, 2012, 43 ft³/s, Sep 26, 2015, minimum daily discharge, 13 ft³/s Jan 5, 1956.
