LOCATION - Lat 41°40'28", long 75°22'35" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Wayne County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 02040103, on right bank at bridge on SR 247, 0.3 miles downstream from Johnson Creek, and 2 miles northwest of Aldenville,
DRAINAGE AREA - 40.6 mi².

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Occasional discharge measurements and annual maximums, water years 1975-86. October 1986 to current year. Published as station number 01427950, 1975-88.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, crest-stage gage, water-quality monitor, and weighing bucket precipitation gage. Datum of gage is 1,244.00 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988.  Prior to October 2, 2023, the datum of gage was reported as 1,244.60 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Satellite and landline telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District.
REMARKS - Lowest daily mean for the period of record is an estimate. Annual 7-day minimum for the period of record was computed using estimated daily discharges. Records are good except those for estimated discharges, and those greater than 1,000 ft³/s, which are poor.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - Water Temperature: Jul 1988 to Sep 2004. Oct 2017 to current year.
REMARKS - Cross-sectional water temperature data is available upon request. Historically water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius were not reported. Water temperature sensors now have the ability to accurately read water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius. Subsequent to water year 2015, water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius are reported. Water temperature records for water year 2018 are good Oct 1 to Nov 21, and Dec 13 to Sep 30, and are poor Nov 22 to Dec 12. Beginning in water year 2019, water quality records are not rated as "excellent", "good", "fair", or "poor".
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - Water Temperature: Maximum, 27.5° C, Jul 6, 1999; minimum 0.0°C, many days during winter periods.
