01447800 LEHIGH RIVER BELOW FRANCIS E. WALTER RESERVOIR NEAR WHITE HAVEN, PA
LOCATION - Lat 41°06'17", long 75°43'57" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Luzerne County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 02040106, on right bank 0.7 mi downstream from Francis E. Walter Reservoir, 2.0 mi upstream from Fawn Run, and 4.0 mi northeast of White Haven.
DRAINAGE AREA - 290 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1957 to current year. Prior to October 1962 published as "below Bear Creek Reservoir", October 1962 to September 1971 published as "below Francis E. Walter Reservoir."
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, crest-stage gage, and water-quality monitor. Datum of gage is 1,212.32 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (originating elevation from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers). Prior to June 24, 2024, the datum of gage was reported as 1,212.95 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.  Satellite telemetry at station. 
COOPERATION - Funding for the operation of this station is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District, and the U.S. Geological Survey.
REMARKS - Flow regulated since February 1961 by Francis E. Walter Reservoir (station 01447780) 0.7 mi upstream.   Records are good except for estimated discharge, which are poor. 
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of August 1955 reached a discharge of 54,200 ft³/s based on slope-area measurement at site 4.9 mi downstream.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - Water Temperature: Oct 1987 to Sep 2004. Oct 2017 to current year.
REMARKS - Cross-sectional water temperature data is available upon request. Historically water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius were not reported. Water temperature sensors now have the ability to accurately read water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius. Subsequent to water year 2015, water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius are reported. 
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - Water Temperature: Maximum, 31.5° C, Jul 21, 1988; minimum 0.0°C, many days during winter periods.
