  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

REVISIONS HISTORY -

WDR-US-2009: 2006-2007 (P).

Prior to March 16, 2022, the datum of gage was reported as 120 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1996 to current year.
GAGE -

Water-stage recorder, crest-stage gage, and water quality monitor. Datum of gage is 113.4 ft. above North American Vertical Datum of 1988, from single-base GNSS rapid static survey.  Satellite telemetry at station.  Prior to March 16, 2022, the datum of gage was erroneously reported as 120 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.

COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey. Funding for this station is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the Chester County Water Resources Authority and the U.S. Geological Survey.
REMARKS - Records for water year 2014 are rated good except those greater than 3,000 ft³/s, which are fair, and those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Records for water year 2015 are rated good except those greater than 3,000 ft³/s, which are fair, and those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Records for water year 2016 are rated good except those greater than 3,000 ft³/s, which are fair, and those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Records for water year 2017 are rated good except those greater than 3,000 ft³/s, which are fair, and those for estimated discharge, which are poor. Records for water year 2017 are rated good except those greater than 900 ft³/s and those for estimated discharge, which are poor. Records for water year 2018 are rated good except those greater than 900 ft³/s and those for estimated discharge, which are poor. Records for water year 2019 are rated good except those greater than 900 ft³/s and those for estimated discharge, which are poor.
ECOLOGICAL RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 2002 to current year.
REMARKS - Results of benthic surveys can be obtained by contacting the U.S. Geological Survey Pennsylvania Water Science Center, Exton Field Office
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 2002 to current year.
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - WATER TEMPERATURE: October 2019 to current year.  SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: October 2019 to current year. TURBIDITY: November 2011 to current year. SUSPENDED- SEDIMENT DISCHARGE: November 2011 to current year.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Chester County Water Resources Authority. Water-quality samples were collected as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Water-Quality Network (WQN) with cooperation from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality monitor since November 2011.
REMARKS - As of October 2013, results from discrete water quality samples collected at this site are available through the U.S. Geological Survey National Water Information System web interface on the "Water Quality for the Nation" webpage. Analyses for pH, water temperature, specific conductance, and dissolved oxygen were performed on site. All other sample analyses were performed at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection laboratory in Harrisburg, Pa. Occasionally, values for filtered parameters may exceed values for the corresponding unfiltered parameter. These results are within the limits of analytical precision and methods. Explanations of sample characteristics are available from the USGS NWISWeb Help System pages: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/help Suspended- Sediment Discharge was computed using methods described in Sloto, R.A., and Olson, L.E., "Estimated suspended-sediment loads and yields in the French and Brandywine Creek Basins, Chester County, Pennsylvania, water years 2008-09: U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Report 2011-5109. The equation for computing suspended-sediment concentration was incorrectly listed as "(SSC)=1.689(Turbidity)-3.954" in the manuscript for water years 2014 and 2015. The correct equation is LOG(SSC)= 1.4003 LOG(Turbidity)-0.40922. The correct equation was used for data computation, and the data is accurate as published. The reporting precision of the turbidity probe in low turbidity water is +/- 0.3 FNU, therefore the lowest reportable value, 0 FNU, does not necessarily indicate a condition of zero turbidity. Interruptions in the record were due to malfunctions of the equipment. Turbidity records for water year 2014 are rated fair with the exception of June 13-16 which is poor. Turbidity records for water year 2015 are rated poor. Turbidity records for water year 2016 are rated fair. Turbidity records for water year 2017 are rated fair. Turbidity records for water year 2018 are rated poor, except for those for the period from March 12 to April 19, which are fair. Beginning in water year 2019, water quality records are not rated as "excellent", "good", "fair", or "poor".
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Maximum, 582 microsiemens/cm, Feb 8, 2021; minimum, 72 microsiemens/cm, Sep 1, 2021. WATER TEMPERATURE: Maximum, 28.3°C, Jul 16, 2024; minimum, -0.1°C, many days. TURBIDITY: Maximum 1,470 FNU, Feb 24, 2016; minimum, 0.0 FNU, many days.
