01545600 YOUNG WOMANS CREEK NEAR RENOVO, PA

LOCATION - Lat 41°23'22", long 77°41'28" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Clinton County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 02050203, on left bank on SR 4005, 0.3 mi downstream from Laurelly Fork, 1.5 mi upstream from Left Branch Young Womans Creek, 3.7 mi upstream from mouth, and 5.0 mi northeast of Renovo.

DRAINAGE AREA - 46.2 mi².

REVISIONS HISTORY - Revisions: Water temperature records for the period Jan 6-13, 2018 were revised on Nov 29, 2018, based on subsequent visits indicating probe not fastened in place and occasionally coming out of water. Errant values were removed.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD - December 1964 to current year.

GAGE - Water-stage recorder, water-quality monitor, crest stage gage, and concrete control. Elevation of gage is 780.41 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Satellite telemetry at station.

COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey.

REMARKS - Records are good except those for estimated discharges, which are poor.

WATER-QUALITY RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD - Water years 1965 to 1999, 2004 to current year.

PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - WATER TEMPERATURE: February 2012 to current year. SUSPENDED SEDIMENT DISCHARGE: October 1980 to September 1981.

COOPERATION - Water-quality samples were collected as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Water-Quality Network (WQN) with cooperation from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

REMARKS -

This site is part of a 15-station national network of USGS Hydrologic Benchmark stations designed to track water-quality trends at a range of hydrologic conditions.

As of October 2013, results from discrete water quality samples collected at this site are available through the U.S. Geological Survey National Water Information System web interface on the "Water Quality for the Nation" webpage. Analysis for pH, water temperature, specific conductance, and dissolved oxygen were performed on site. Monthly samples were analyzed at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Laboratory in Harrisburg, PA. All other samples were analyzed at the U.S. Geological Survey Laboratory in Denver, CO. Occasionally, values for filtered parameters may exceed values for the corresponding unfiltered parameter. These results are within the limits of analytical precision and methods. Cross-sectional water temperature data is available upon request. Historically water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius were not reported. Water temperature sensors now have the ability to accurately read water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius. Subsequent to water year 2015, water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius are reported.
