01553990 SUSQUEHANNA RIVER ABOVE DAM AT SUNBURY, PA
LOCATION - Lat 40°51'10", long 76°48'10" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Northumberland County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 02050301, on left bank on streamward side of floodwall, about 400 ft. upstream from highway bridge (SR 61) at Sunbury, 0.8 mi. upstream from Shamokin Creek, and 1.8 mi. downstream from West Branch Susquehanna River.
DRAINAGE AREA - 18,300 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 2006 to current year. Gage height records for Oct 1990 to Sep 2006 are available from the USGS Pennsylvania Water Science Center.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 419.66 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Gage is operated as an auxiliary site for stations 01540500 and 01553500. Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey. Funding for this station is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Geological Survey through the Cooperative Water Program.
REMARKS - Stages affected by operation of fabridam located about 3,000 ft downstream. 
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 2002 to current year.
COOPERATION - Water-quality samples were collected as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Water-Quality Network (WQN) with cooperation from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
REMARKS - As of October 2013, results from discrete water quality samples collected at this site are available through the U.S. Geological Survey National Water Information System web interface on the "Water Quality for the Nation" webpage. Analyses for pH, water temperature, specific conductance, and dissolved oxygen were performed on site. Inorganic sample analyses were performed at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection laboratory in Harrisburg, Pa. Occasionally, values for filtered parameters may exceed values for the corresponding unfiltered parameter. These results are within the limits of analytical precision and methods.
