LOCATION - Lat 36°40'49", long 76°55'07" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Franklin City, VA, Hydrologic Unit 03010202, on left bank 0.4 mi northeast of Franklin and 14.1 mi upstream from Nottoway River.
DRAINAGE AREA - 664 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - July 2010 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and index-velocity meter. Datum of gage is 0.00 ft NAVD of 1988.
REMARKS - Streamflow at this site is affected significantly by astronomical tides. Daily mean discharge was computed using the Godin low-pass filter to remove tidal effects from instantaneous values. By convention, U.S. Geological Survey has established ebb (seaward) flows as positive flows and flood (landward) flows as negative flows.
