02082585 TAR RIVER AT NORTH CAROLINA HIGHWAY 97 AT ROCKY MOUNT, NC
LOCATION - Lat 35°57'17", long 77°47'14" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Edgecombe County, NC, Hydrologic Unit 03020101, on left bank 20 ft downstream of bridge on North Carolina Highway 97, 0.5 mi upstream from Cowlick Branch, and 1.0 mi north-northeast of Rocky Mount.
DRAINAGE AREA - 925 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR NC-81-1: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1976 to current year.
GAGE - The datum of the gage is 52.83 ft above NAVD88 NAD83(2011) Geoid 18 as determined by differential levels from NGS BM EY0907 performed on January 24, 1978. Satellite telemetry at streamgage.
REMARKS - Prior to October 1996, some regulation at low flow caused by mill above station.
Gage-height records are generally good.  Discharge records are generally fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor.  Additional details on the accuracy of the records can be obtained by contacting the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center at gs-w-nc_nwisweb_data_inquiries@usgs.gov
