LOCATION - Lat 33°57'12", long 78°43'12" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Horry County, SC, Hydrologic Unit 03040206, on downstream side of Highway 905 at Buck Creek, 1.5 miles north of Longs, and 3 miles upstream of the mouth of Buck Creek.
DRAINAGE AREA - 46.9 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - Drainage area was revised on Jun. 23, 2020, based on a more accurate determination of the drainage area. 
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - November 2005 to August 2019( Discharge discontinued).
GAGE - Elevation of gage is 5.30 ft above NAVD 88.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 5,140 ft³/s, October 10, 2016, maximum gage height, 19.95, September 21, 2018, as a result of Hurricane Florence; minimum discharge, -258 ft³/s, September 19, 2018, minimum gage height, 4.04 ft, July 30, 2007.

For water year 2015: Specific Conductance records good; pH records excellent, except for 8/13-8/27, which are good; Temperature records excellent; Dissolved Oxygen records fair, except for 9/26-9/30, which are poor; Turbidity records poor.

For water year 2016: Specific Conductance records excellent, except for 1/27-3/8, which are good; pH records excellent, except for 10/21-11/19, 7/26-8/8, which are good; Temperature records excellent; Dissolved Oxygen records poor, except for 9/26-9/30, which are poor; Turbidity records fair, except 10/1-10/21, 12/17-1/27, 7/13-7/26, which are poor.

For water year 2017: Turbidity records fair except for 4/25/17 to 8/24/17 and 9/6/17 to 930/17 are poor; Temperature record is excellent;

SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Maximum, 1,040 microsiemens/cm, July 1, 2012; minimum, 33 microsiemens/cm, Oct. 3, 2015.

pH: Maximum, 9.6 standard units, March 21, 22, 2022; minimum 5.5 standard units, Oct. 4, 2015 & May 29, 2021.

WATER TEMPERATURE: Maximum, 38.1°C, July 29, 2022; minimum, 0.3°C on many days, first occurrence on January 07, 2018. 

DISSOLVED OXYGEN: Maximum, 31.0 mg/L, March 5, 2022; minimum, 0.0 mg/L, Sep. 16, 17, 18, 2008, July 17, 19, 20, 2013.

TURBIDITY: Maximum, 990 FNU, June 12, 2006; minimum, <1 FNU, occurs many days most years.  Prior to October 1, 2009 minimum threshold for Turbidity was <5 FNU which occurred many days in 2006-2009.
