LOCATION - Lat 35°50'31.29", long 81°21'40.96" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Caldwell County, NC, Hydrologic Unit 03050101, on the left bank, on the downstream end of the bridge abutment at Secondary Road 1740 at Petra Mills, NC.
DRAINAGE AREA - 33.9 mi².  
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 2019 to current year.

Water years 1993-1994, periodic discharge measurements. 
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 981.61 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Radio telemetry at streamgage.
REMARKS - Gage-height records are generally good. Discharge records are generally fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor. EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - A maximum instantaneous discharge of 5,030 ft³/s at a gage height of 7.92 ft, August 17, 1994 (REVISED). 
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - A maximum instantaneous discharge of 7,750 ft³/s at a gage height of 9.46 ft, November 12, 2020.
