02197500 SAVANNAH RIVER AT BURTONS FERRY BRIDGE NEAR MILLHAVEN, GA
LOCATION - Lat 32°56'11.2", long 81°30'09.1" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Screven County, GA, Hydrologic Unit 03060106, on right bank 500 ft downstream from U.S. Highway 301 bridge, 2.0 mi downstream from Rocky Creek, 9.0 mi east of Millhaven, and at mile 118.7.
DRAINAGE AREA - 8,650 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - Gage datum was revised on February 1, 2022, based on an error in the determination of the original gage datum.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1939 to September 1970, October 1982 to September 2003, October 2004 to present.
GAGE - Data collection platform. Datum of gage is 55.45 ft above NAVD of 1988.
REMARKS - Gage-height records are generally good. Discharge records are generally fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor. Additional details on the accuracy of the records can be obtained by contacting the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center at gs-w-sc_nwisweb_data_inquiries@usgs.gov.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood in October 1929 reached a stage of 30.8 ft, from information by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, discharge, 220,000 ft³/s, from rating curve extended above 141,000 ft³/s.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum Discharge, 141,000 cfs, Aug 18, 1940;  Gage height, 27.00 ft, Aug. 18, 1940.  
CLIMATOLOGICAL RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1985 to September 2003. October 2004 to current year.
