Click to hide Water-Year Summary instructions and information
  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

USGS Water-Year Summary 2023
021989773 SAVANNAH RIVER AT USACE DOCK, AT SAVANNAH, GA
LOCATION - Lat 32°04'49.5", long 81°04'52.9" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Chatham County, GA, Hydrologic Unit 03060109, at the United States Army Corps of Engineers Dock on Hutchinson Island, 1.2 miles downstream of US 17 (Talmadge Memorial Bridge), 2.4 miles upstream from confluence with Back River, and, at Savannah.
DRAINAGE AREA - Indeterminate.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD -
DISCHARGE: May 2007 to current year.
GAGE HEIGHT: May 2007 to current year.
WATER VELOCITY: May 2007 to current year.
GAGE - Satellite telemetry with a water-stage recorder and an acoustic velocity meter. Datum of gage is the North American Vertical Datum (NAVD) of 1988.
COOPERATION - Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division.
REMARKS - Gage-height records are generally fair. Water velocity records are generally poor. Discharge records are generally poor.  Additional details on the accuracy of the records can be obtained by contacting the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center at gs-w-ga_nwisweb_data_inquiries@usgs.gov.

Streamflow at this site is affected significantly by astronomical tides. By convention, the U.S. Geological Survey has established ebb (seaward) flows as positive flows and flood (landward) flows as negative flows. Unfiltered 15-minute stage, velocity, and discharge data are available upon request.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge recorded, 183,000 cfs, October 08, 2016; maximum gage height recorded, 8.37 feet, September 11, 2017; minimum gage height recorded, -8.10 feet, January 3, 2014.
CLIMATOLOGICAL RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 2007 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - Tipping-bucket raingage.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD -
SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: May 2007 to current year.

pH: May 2007 to current year.

WATER TEMPERATURE: May 2007 to current year.

DISSOLVED OXYGEN: May 2007 to current year.

TURBIDITY: September 2013 to current year.

SALINITY: October 2010 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - Satellite telemetry with a continuous water-quality monitor.
REMARKS -
For period: 10/01/2013-09/30/2014: Specific Conductance, pH, Dissolved Oxygen, Water Temperature, Turbidity, and Salinity records are rated good; occasional missing salinity values due to specific conductance less than allowable input for salinity computation.
For period: 10/01/2014-01/08/2018: Specific Conductance, pH, Water Temperature, Dissolved Oxygen, and Salinity are rated good; occasional missing salinity values due to specific conductance less than allowable input for salinity computation. Turbidity records are rated fair.
Salinity records for years prior to 2011 are unpublished.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD -
