Click to hide Water-Year Summary instructions and information
  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

USGS Water-Year Summary 2023
LOCATION - Lat 30°16'55", long 81°44'26" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 sec.31, T.2 S., R.26 E., Duval County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03080103, on a free-standing platform in the channel, 120 ft downstream of San Juan Ave. bridge in Jacksonville, and 1.5 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 22.8 mi².
PERIOD OF RECORD - November 1993 to May 1997 and October 2000 to July 2002 (gage heights only), August 2002 to September 2010, October 2010 to September 2011 (filtered), October 2015 to current year (filtered).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, acoustic velocity meter, and data-collection platform. Datum of gage is 10.39 ft below NGVD of 1929 (levels by DeGrove Surveyors, Inc. from Florida Department of Environmental Protection bench mark) and 11.46 ft below NAVD of 1988.
COOPERATION - This gage is monitored in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
REMARKS - Discharge not published some days due to bad or missing gage-height or velocity data. Streamflow at this site is significantly affected by astronomical tides. Daily mean discharge was computed from filtered unit value discharge data. The Godin low-pass filter was used to remove principal tidal frequencies from unit values. By convention, the U.S. Geological Survey has established ebb (seaward) flows as positive flow and flood (landward) flows as negative flows. The residuals are not total freshwater flows but are a combination of freshwater flows and water storage caused by higher and lower mean sea levels and storm surges from tropical storm events. Instantaneous discharge computed from index-velocity linear regression relation and gage height rating. Daily values of discharge and gage height are available online at http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis.

SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: October 2015 to current year.

WATER TEMPERATURE: October 2015 to current year.

SALINITY: October 2015 to current year.

INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality monitor and data-collection platform.
REMARKS - Extremes for current year and extremes for period of daily record are based on recorded values and may have been exceeded during periods of no record. October 2015 to current year; water temperature, specific conductance, and salinity published as daily maximum, minimum, and mean.

SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Maximum, 36,500 µS/cm @ 25 °C, Oct. 9, 2016; minimum, 77 µS/cm @ 25 °C, Sept. 11, 2017.

WATER TEMPERATURE: Maximum, 35.5 °C, July 7, 2022; minimum, 7.9 °C, Jan. 3, 2018.

SALINITY: Maximum, 23.1 ppth, Oct. 9, 2016; minimum, 0.0 ppth, many days.
