  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

USGS Water-Year Summary 2024
02292900 CALOOSAHATCHEE RIVER AT S-79, NEAR OLGA, FL
LOCATION - Lat 26°43'17", long 81°41'36" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 sec.23, T.43 S., R.26 E., Lee County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03090205, in control house at southeast end of lock at salinity-control structure 79, 1 mi upstream from Telegraph Creek, and 1.2 mi northeast of Olga. Water-quality instruments are located in PVC pipes at the end of the SFWMD platform on the upstream right bank.
DRAINAGE AREA - Indeterminate.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR FL-79-2A, 1978.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - December 1964 to March 1966 (gage heights only), April 1966 to current year.
GAGE - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers owned and operated satellite data collection platform with water-stage shaft encoders. Prior to October 16, 1998, similar equipment belonging to the U.S. Geological Survey was used. Datum of gage is National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.
COOPERATION - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Records of stage, gate and lock operation provided by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
REMARKS - Flow regulated by operation of salinity-control structure 79. Downstream stage is tidal, but at times is affected by gate operation. Starting in the 2002 water year the downstream stage record published is the maximum and minimum gage height for each calendar day. Prior to the 2002 water year daily mean for downstream stage was published. Discharge computed from relations between discharge, head, and gate opening. Satellite data collection platform with shaft encoders were installed August 30, 1991 to collect upstream and downstream stages. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers equipment installed on October 16, 1998.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - UPSTREAM STAGES: Maximum gage height, 8.60 ft Sept. 28, 2022 (associated with Hurricane Ian storm surge); minimum, 1.18 ft Sept. 22, 1966.
