02297350 PEACE RIVER NEAR PEACE RIVER HEIGHTS NEAR FORT OGDEN, FL.

LOCATION - Lat 27°04'38", long 82°00'27" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 SW 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.15, T.39 S., R.23 E., DeSoto County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03100101, on RV campground fishing pier, 3.3 mi west of Fort Ogden, and 16.8 mi upstream from mouth.

DRAINAGE AREA - 1,780 mi².

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD - November 1997 to September 2003 (maximum and minimum gage heights only); October 2003 to September 2010 (tidal high-high and low-low gage heights only); October 2010 to current year (maximum and minimum gage heights only).

GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.

COOPERATION - This gage is monitored in cooperation with the Peace River/Manasota Regional Water Supply Authority.

REMARKS - Gage height at this site is significantly affected by astronomical tides. The extremes for periods published previously as tidal high-high and low-low gage heights are equivalent to maximum and minimum gage heights.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum gage height, of 7.08 ft, from high-water mark in stilling-well after Hurricane Irma, occurred Sept. 15, 2017; minimum, 2.68 ft below NGVD, Jan. 3, 2008.

WATER-QUALITY RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD - November 1997 to current year.

COOPERATION - This gage is monitored in cooperation with the Peace River/Manasota Regional Water Supply Authority.

INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality monitor consisting of specific conductance and temperature sensors located near the surface at 1.6 ft below NGVD 29 and near the bottom at 3.1 ft below NGVD 29.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Top sensor maximum, 35,300 microsiemens, June 2, 2007; bottom sensor maximum, 33,200 microsiemens, June 2, 2002; top sensor minimum, 53 microsiemens, Sept. 29, 2022; bottom sensor minimum, 49 microsiemens, Sept. 29, 2022. WATER TEMPERATURE: Top sensor maximum, 34.6°C, June 22, 2015; bottom sensor maximum, 34.3°C, June 16, 2010, July 29, 2010, June 22, 2015; top sensor minimum, 8.1°C, Jan. 12, 2010; bottom sensor minimum, 8.1°C, Jan. 12, 2010.
