  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

USGS Water-Year Summary 2023
02306028 HILLSBOROUGH RIVER AT PLATT STREET AT TAMPA, FL.
LOCATION - Lat 27°56'30", long 82°27'32" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SE 1/4 sec.25, T.29 S., R.18 E., Hillsborough County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03100205, Southwest bridge bumper on downstream side of bridge, at Platt Street near mouth, and 0.6 mi south of downtown post office at Tampa.
DRAINAGE AREA - 694 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - January to August 1997 (maximum and minimum gage heights only), incomplete; February 2001 to September 2003 (maximum and minumum gage heights only); October 2003 to September 2010 (tidal high-high and low-low gage heights only); October 2010 to current year (maximum and minimum gage heights only). Records prior to 1997 are available in the files of the U.S. Geological Survey.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 10.00 ft below National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.
COOPERATION - This gage is monitored in cooperation with the Southwest Florida Water Management District and Hillsborough County.
REMARKS - Gage height at this site is significantly affected by astronomical tides. The extremes for periods published previously as tidal high-high and low-low gage heights are equivalent to maximum and minimum gage heights.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum gage height, 16.35 ft, August 30, 2023; minimum, 4.19 ft, Sept. 10, 2017.
CLIMATOLOGICAL RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 2016 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - An 8-inch diameter, tipping bucket precipitation gage 15-minute interval, mounted on a 2-inch diameter aluminum pipe with the top of the funnel 3 ft above deck.
REMARKS - Collection, computation and publication of precipitation data do not necessarily conform to standards used by the National Weather Service.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - January to August 1997 (top and bottom sensors); February 2001 to current year (top, middle, and bottom sensors).
COOPERATION - This gage is monitored in cooperation with the Southwest Florida Water Management District.
INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality monitors consisting of three specific conductance and temperature sensors located at various depths in the river. The top sonde is located 2.0 ft below NGVD 1929, the middle sonde at 4.0 ft below NGVD 1929, and the bottom sonde is located at 5.9 ft below NGVD 1929.
REMARKS - Top sensor comes out of water at times during extreme low tides.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Top sensor maximum, 49,800 microsiemens, May 28, 2001; middle sensor maximum, 49,600 microsiemens, Mar. 9, 2001; bottom sensor maximum, 50,600 microsiemens, June 22, 2001; top sensor minimum, 205 microsiemens, Aug. 25, 2004; middle sensor minimum, 216 microsiemens, Aug. 25, 2004; bottom sensor minimum, 220 microsiemens, Aug. 25, 2004. TEMPERATURE: Top sensor maximum, 34.3°C, Aug. 17, 2010; middle sensor maximum, 33.9°C, Aug. 17, 2010; bottom sensor maximum, 33.5°C, July 14, 2016; top sensor minimum, 10.5°C, Jan. 10, 2010; middle sensor minimum, 10.7°C, Jan. 13, 2010; bottom sensor minimum, 12.8°C, Jan. 15, 2010.
