  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

USGS Water-Year Summary 2023
02310678 HOMOSASSA SPRINGS AT HOMOSASSA SPRINGS, FL.
LOCATION - Lat 28°47'58", long 82°35'20" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Citrus County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03100207, approximately 600 ft upstream of bridge on nature trail in Homosassa Springs, 0.8 mi west of town of Homosassa Springs, and 3.1 mi northeast of Homosassa.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - 1931-33, 1936, 1956, 1961, 1963-65 (miscellaneous discharge measurements); August 1965 to September 1978, June 1988 to March 1989 (discharge measurements only); October 1995 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, acoustic-velocity meter, and data-collection platform. Datum of gage is 2.99 ft below the North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Prior to Feb. 19, 2009, at datum 0.22 ft higher.
COOPERATION - This gage is monitored in cooperation with Southwest Florida Water Management District.
REMARKS - Streamflow at this site is significantly affected by astronomical tides. Discharge computed from relation between artesian pressure at Weeki Wachee Well near Weeki Wachee, spring-pool stage, and discharge at measuring site through April 2019. Starting April 2019, discharge is computed from velocity readings and stage at the gage. Discharge was not filtered for tidal affect. See WRIR 01-4230 for computation techniques. By convention, the U.S. Geological Survey has established ebb (seaward) flows as positive flow and flood (landward) flows as negative flows.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum gage height, 7.86 ft, Sept. 02, 2016, and Aug. 30, 2023; minimum gage height, 0.76 ft, Jan. 03, 2008.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD -

Temperature and specific conductance, June 2004 to current year.

Nitrate, September 2015 to September 2021 (discontinued).

COOPERATION - This gage is monitored in cooperation with Southwest Florida Water Management District.
INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality monitor consisting of specific conductance, temperature, and nitrate sensors. Water quality sensors mounted at an elevation of 0.1 ft. below NAVD 88.
REMARKS - During periods of missing record, values may be higher or lower than the listed extremes.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD -
