LOCATION - Lat 30°35'53", long 83°04'24" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 sec.01, T.2 N., R.12 E., Hamilton County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03110202, near left bank on downstream side of bridge on State Highway 150, 150 ft upstream from Southern Railroad bridge, 1,400 ft downstream from Apalahoochee River, 1.5 mi south of Florida-Georgia State line, 1.6 mi southeast of Jennings, and 20.1 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,680 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY -
Gage height and discharge for the period June 8, 2017, to June 9, 2017, were revised on Aug. 17, 2017, based on changes to the gage height record.
Gage height readings, associated with discharge measurements, on Feb. 28, 2023, and April 26, 2023, were revised on Feb. 8, 2023, based on changes to the gage datum.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - July 1976 to September 1984, October 1984 to September 1985 (gage height and peak discharge only), October 1985 to September 1987, September 1998 to September 2001, October 2006 to current year. Prior to July 28, 1975 (one miscellaneous discharge measurement in 1923, three in 1928, and six made by Suwannee River Water Management District in 1976).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and data-collection platform. Datum of gage is National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (Florida Department of Transportation bench mark). Prior to August 18, 1928, nonrecording gage at site 150 ft downstream at datum unknown. July 1976 to September 1987, at datum 58.22 ft lower.
COOPERATION - Records from October 1999 to September 2001 and October 2006 to September 2007 were collected and computed by Suwannee River Water Management District and reviewed by U. S. Geological Survey.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum measured discharge, 17,900 cfs May 2, 1928, gage height not determined.
