LOCATION - Lat 30°28'49", long 83°14'40" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 sec.17, T.1 N., R.11 E., Madison County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03110203, 100 ft downstream from the spring pool, near left bank, 40 ft upstream of the Withlacoochee River and 10.2 mi east of Madison.

DRAINAGE AREA - Indeterminate.

REVISIONS HISTORY - Total Dissolved Solid data published from July 7, 2014 to November 7, 2017 were removed from publication on April 2, 2018.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD - 1932, 1946, 1956, 1961, 1963, 1974, 1977, 1985, 1990-91, 1993, 1995-96, 1998 (miscellaneous discharge measurements), February 2002 to current year. Prior to February 2002, published as Blue Spring near Madison.

GAGE - Water-stage recorder and data-collection platform. Datum of gage is 33 ft above NGVD of 1929 and 32.28 ft above NAVD of 1988. Prior to February 2002, non-recording gage at same site at NGVD of 1929.

COOPERATION - This gage is monitored in cooperation with the Suwannee River Water Management District.

REMARKS - At stages below 9.00 ft discharge computed from elevation at Blue Springs well near Madison, FL (302847083145401). At stages above 9.00 ft a differential head rating is used, using Blue Springs well near Madison, FL (302847083145401) and the stage at the site. During periods of high water, the spring is affected by variable backwater from the Withlacoochee River, which at times, can result in negative flow back into the spring vent. Prior to Oct. 7, 2011, discharge was computed using different methods.
