LOCATION - Lat 33°31'45.5", long 84°55'43.4" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Carroll County, GA, Hydrologic Unit 03130002, on left bank, on downstream side of former bridge pier, 50.0 feet upstream from county highway bridge, at Banning Mills, 1.6 miles north of US 27 (ALT), 3.0 miles northwest of Whitesburg, 4.0 miles downstream from Little Snake Creek, and 7.0 miles upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 35.5 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR GA-90-1: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

DISCHARGE: September 1954 to current year.
GAGE HEIGHT: October 1998 to current year.
GAGE - Satellite telemetry with a water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 832.9 feet above North American Vertical Datum (NAVD) of 1988 (leveling by Global Positioning System equipment).
COOPERATION - Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division.
REMARKS - Gage-height records are generally fair. Discharge records are generally fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor. EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge recorded, 13,500 cfs, September 21, 2009, from rating curve extended above 5,800 cfs; maximum gage-height recorded, 19.42 feet, from floodmarks, September 21, 2009; minimum daily discharge, 0.96 cfs, August 20, 2000.
