Click to hide Water-Year Summary instructions and information
  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

LOCATION - Lat 31°37'19.9", long 85°03'33" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Henry County, AL, Hydrologic Unit 03130004, at the right bank steel pier, 0.36 mi downstream of Walter F. George Dam, 0.34 mi upstream of Cemochechobee Creek, and 2.0 mi north-northwest of Fort Gaines, GA.
DRAINAGE AREA - 7,460 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR-GA-2012: 2009-2011.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD -
DISCHARGE: July 2009 to current year.
GAGE-HEIGHT: July 2009 to current year.
WATER VELOCITY: July 2009 to current year.
GAGE - Satellite telemetry with a water-stage recorder and an acoustic velocity meter. Velocity data represents the average water velocity at the upstream cross-section of the bridge with positive values in the downstream direction. The gage datum of 0.009 feet is referenced to National American Vertical Datum (NAVD) of 1988.
COOPERATION - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District.
REMARKS - Gage-height records are generally good. Water velocity records are generally fair. Discharge records are generally poor.  Additional details on the accuracy of the records can be obtained by contacting the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center at gs-w-ga_nwisweb_data_inquiries@usgs.gov.

Water velocity data represent water velocity at the downstream cross-section of the bridge with positive values in the downstream direction. Flow regulated by Lake Sidney Lanier, West Point Lake, Lake Harding, and Walter F. George Lake.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge recorded, 156,000 cfs, estimated, December 26, 2015; maximum gage-height recorded, 150.44 feet, estimated, December 26, 2015; minimum daily discharge, 144 cfs, July 2, 2016.
