03022540 WOODCOCK CREEK AT BLOOMING VALLEY, PA
LOCATION - Lat 41°41'26", long 80°02'54" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Crawford County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 05010004, on left bank at upstream side of bridge, 0.7 mi northeast of Blooming Valley, PA, and 3.4 mi upstream from Woodcock Creek Dam.
DRAINAGE AREA - 31.1 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - Prior to April 4, 2023, the datum of gage was erroneously reported as 1,200 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, from topographic map.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - 1974-95 (continuous record), 1996 to 2013 (peak discharge), 2014 to current (continuous record discharge).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1,196.6 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988.  Prior to April 4, 2023, the datum of gage was erroneously reported as 1,200 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, from topographic map. Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District.
REMARKS -  Record considered good except for estimated discharge, which is poor. 
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - August, 2013 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - Water temperature probe interfaced with a data collection platform, collecting data at a 15-minute sampling interval.
REMARKS -

Historically, water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius were not reported. Water temperature sensors now have the ability to accurately read water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius. 

Values reported by the monitor may not be representative of the entire stream width. Cross-sectional water quality data is available upon request.

Records for water year 2015 water temperature are fair.

Records for water year 2016 are rated fair.

Records for water year 2017 are rated good, except for March 1, August 8 and 9, which are rated poor.

Records for water year 2018 water temperature are rated good.

Records for water year 2019 water temperature are rated good.

Beginning  water year 2020, records for water temperature are no longer given qualitative ratings. 

 

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - WATER TEMPERATURE: Maximum, 27.4° C, July 19, 2020; minimum, -0.3° C, many days in winter months.
