LOCATION - Lat 37°40'15", long 82°46'38" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Floyd County, KY, Hydrologic Unit 05070203, on right bank 50 ft downstream from concrete highway bridge on State Highway 114 at Prestonsburg, 50 ft downstream from mouth of Trimble Branch, 500 ft upstream from mouth of Middle Creek, and at mile 81.4.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,702 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY -
Datum of gage previously reported as 588.919 ft above NGVD of 1929, and 587.737 ft above NAVD of 1988. These datums were revised on Nov 28, 2022.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Oct. 1964 to current year.
GAGE - Water stage recorder with telemetry. Datum is 587.38 feet above NAVD of 1988 and 588.03 ft above NGVD of 1929.
COOPERATION - U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, Huntington District.
REMARKS - Some diversion from river upstream of gage for municipal water supply for city of Prestonsburg. Flow regulated since October 1968 by Fishtrap Lake, since August 1966 by North Fork Pound River Lake, and since March 1965 by John W. Flannagan Lake.
