LOCATION - Lat 39°26'27", long 85°00'10" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NE 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.17, T.9 N., R.2 W., Franklin County, IN, Hydrologic Unit 05080003, in the discharge tower of the reservoir on the East Fork Whitewater River, 1.4 mi northeast of Brookville, 36 mi northwest of Cincinnati.
DRAINAGE AREA - 379 mi², drainage area derived from IN Streamstats.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - January 1974 to December 1985, furnished by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, May 7, 2010 to September 30, 2010.
GAGE - A water-stage recorder is installed in the discharge tower of the reservoir.
DATUM OF GAGE.--Datum of gage is 0.0 above NGVD 1929. Prior to May 7, 2010 datum of gage was 700 ft above NGVD of 1929.
SURFACE AREA.--4,510 acres (winter pool), 5,260 acres (summer pool), 7,790 acrea (flood pool).
ESTABLISHED LEGAL LEVEL.--Not established.
LAKE LEVEL CONTROL.-- The lake is controlled by a dam. The dam is earthern and rock filled with fixed concrete sill for controlling the lake level.
INLET AND OUTLET--East Fork Whitewater River flows through the lake. The other main inlets are: Simpson Creek, Silver Creek, Ellys Creek, Hanna Creek, Dubois Creek, Salt Well Creek, Wolf Creek, and Templeton Creek. East Fork Whitewater River flows from the lake at the southern end and joins Whitewater River, 2.2 mi downstream.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum stage, 766.10 ft, Jan. 18, 2005; minimum stage, -10.00 ft, Jan. 30, 1974, while pool was filling. After reaching seasonal pool, 735.93 ft, Feb. 3, 1976.
