LOCATION - Lat 43°04'38", long 76°10'13" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Onondaga County, NY, Hydrologic Unit 04140201, on left bank 0.2 mi upstream from bridge on Park Street, in Syracuse, and 0.4 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 29.9 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR NY-76-1: 1975 (M). WDR NY-79-1: Datum. 2008 (P). 2010 (M). The published peak above base discharge, 451 ft³/s on Feb. 5, 2008, was replaced by 454 ft³/s on Feb. 6, 2008. The published daily maximum discharge, 751 ft³/s on Aug. 23, 2010, was replaced by the instantaneous maximum discharge, 1,240 ft³/s on Aug. 22, 2010.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Occasional discharge measurements, water years 1959-72. December 1972 to September 2020 (discontinued).
GAGE - Acoustic velocity meter, water-stage recorder, crest-stage gage, and since July 9, 1984, steel "I" beam control. Acoustic velocity meter since October 1, 2009. Datum of gage is 362.76 ft above NGVD of 1929 and 362.17 ft above NAVD of 1988.
REMARKS - Flow may be affected by backwater from Onondaga Lake (station 04240495) at times when the lake elevation exceeds 364.0 ft.
Water Years 2014-15: Records good.
Water Year 2016: Records good except those for Oct. 15 to Dec. 10 and those for estimated daily discharges, which are fair.
Water Years 2017-20: Records good except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 1,610 ft³/s, July 1, 2015, gage height, 5.40 ft; maximum gage height, 7.02 ft, Apr. 26, 1993 (backwater from Onondaga Lake); minimum discharge not determined; minimum gage height, 0.28 ft, Feb. 6-8, 1977.
