LOCATION - Lat 44°10'57", long 72°38'28" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Washington County, VT, Hydrologic Unit 04150403, on right bank, just downstream of New England Central Railroad bridge, 0.9 mi northeast of Cox Brook Road and State Highway 12 intersection in Northfield Falls, 1.1 mi downstream from Cox Branch, and 4.2 mi downstream of Station 04286500, Dog River at Northfield.
DRAINAGE AREA - 76.1 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1237: 1935-37. Datum of gage was revised on Sep 20, 2022 from 603.00 ft above NGVD of 1929 to 602.42 ft above NAVD of 1988.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Discharge records: October 1934 to current year. October and November 1934 monthly discharge only, published in WSP 1307.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 602.42 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988.
COOPERATION - Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation.
REMARKS - WATER YEARS 2014-22: Records good except those for estimated discharges, which are poor. Infrequent diurnal fluctuation at low flow by power plant upstream; regulation much greater prior to 1955.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - MAXIMUM PEAK FLOW - 22,200 ft³/s on Aug 28, 2011, gage-height 17.26 ft, from rating curve extended above 3,100 ft³/s on basis of measurement of peak flow over dam at gage height 8.49 ft and slope-area measurements of peak flow at gage heights 11.57 ft and 17.26 ft.
