LOCATION - Lat 39°37'14.9", long 90°46'49.4" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NE 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.18, T.5 S., R.3 W., Pike County, IL, Hydrologic Unit 07110004, on right bank at downstream side of bridge on abandoned county road, 50 ft downstream from Panther Creek, 0.1 mi downstream from U.S. Highway 54, 1.4 mi northeast of Pittsfield, and at mile 33.6.
DRAINAGE AREA - 39.4 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1175: 1940(P), 1941, 1949. WSP 1508: 1942. WDR IL-75-1: Drainage area.
Revisions: Gage datum was revised to 629.86 ft NAVD88 on June 6, 2023, as determined by a GNSS Level II survey using GEOID18. March 13, 2020, to June 6, 2023, gage datum was published in error as 638.48 ft NGVD29.

GAGE - Water-stage recorder, satellite telemeter, and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 629.86 ft above NAVD of 1988. Dec. 7, 1939, to March 13, 2020, at site 0.96 mi upstream, at datum of 638.48 ft NGVD29. Prior to Dec. 7, 1939, nonrecording gage at site 0.96 mi upstream, at datum of 638.48 ft NGVD29.
REMARKS - Pittsfield Sewage Treatment Facility is located upstream from gage. Accuracy of records is discussed in the annual Station Analysis archived at the USGS IL Water Science Center.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD -
SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE: Flood of Sept. 8, 1926, reached a stage of 18.4 ft, from floodmark, discharge not determined.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD -
SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE: Maximum discharge, 13,700 ft³/s, Sept. 14, 1993, gage height, 14.92 ft, from rating curve extended above 4,400 ft³/s, on basis of contracted-opening measurement of peak flow; no flow in most years.
