LOCATION - Lat 41°50'45", long 88°20'57" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NW 1/4 NW 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.20, T.39 N., R.8 E., Kane County, IL, Hydrologic Unit 07120007, on the left downstream side of bridge.
DRAINAGE AREA - 27.6 mi².

GAGE - Water-stage recorder, satellite telemeter, unheated tipping-bucket rain gage, and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 687.74 ft. above NAVD of 1988.
REMARKS - Effluent from sewage-treatment plant 5.0 mi upstream averages 1.0 ft³/s during the year. Collection, computation, and publication of precipitation data do not necessarily conform to standards used by the National Weather Service. Precipitation data could be subject to error for days with freezing and/or thawing of precipitation, which are identified as estimated (e). Accuracy of records is discussed in the annual Station Analysis archived at the USGS IL Water Science Center.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE: Maximum discharge, 4,510 ft³/s, September 13, 2008, from rating extended above 896 ft³/s, gage height, 9.48 ft; no flow, several days in 2005 and 2006.
