LOCATION - Lat 44°05'05", long 103°34'48" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.36, T.2 N., R.4 E., Pennington County, SD, Hydrologic Unit 10120110, on right bank, 0.8 mi west of Silver City, and 3.0 mi downstream from Slate Creek.
DRAINAGE AREA - 293 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR SD-10-1: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1953 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of the gage is 4,622.18 ft. above North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88). Prior to Oct. 1, 2020, datum was published as 4,620.00 ft. above NGVD of 1929 (Bureau of Reclamation benchmark).
REMARKS - Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records good except for June 10, 2016 to Nov. 16, 2016, Jul. 9-13, 2019, Jul. 16 to Aug. 6, 2019 and May 18 to Jun. 2, 2020, which are fair, and estimated discharges, which are poor, unless otherwise noted. Flow regulated by Deerfield Dam on Castle Creek since December 1945. Satellite data-collection platform at station.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 2,060 ft³/s, from rating curve extended above 1,000 ft³/s, on basis of slope-area measurement of peak flow, May 15, 1965, gage height, 10.44 ft.
