LOCATION - Lat 44°26'32", long 103°37'44" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SE 1/4 NE 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.33, T.6 N., R.4 E., Lawrence County, SD, Hydrologic Unit 10120202, on left bank 90 ft downstream from Crook Mountain Road and 1.1 mi south of Whitewood.
DRAINAGE AREA - 56.5 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR SD-10-1: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1982 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 3,677.11 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88).
REMARKS - Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records good except for Mar. 26 to Aug. 28, 2019, and Apr. 6 to May 22, 2020, which are fair, and estimated discharges, which are poor, unless otherwise noted. Flow affected by occasional trans-basin diversions for municipal water supplies. Satellite data-collection platform at station. 
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of Jun. 15, 1962, discharge, 8,460 ft³/s, by contracted-opening measurement, 1.8 mi downstream from gage.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 3,800 ft³/s, May 8, 1995, on basis of slope-area measurement of peak flow, gage height, 9.06 ft.
