LOCATION - Lat 39°58'43.59", long 99°28'41.17" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in sec.09, T.1 S., R.19 W., Phillips County, KS, Hydrologic Unit 10250015, on right upstream bank of county bridge 5 mi west of U.S. Highway 183 and 0.5 mi south of U.S. Highway 383, 3 mi west of Woodruff, and at mile 27.4.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,007 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1928 to September 1932, October 1944 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1310.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 2020.797 ft. above NAVD88. Previous datum of gage (prior to June, 2021) was 2,020.12 ft, from topographic map. See WSP 1919 for history of changes prior to Oct. 7, 1955. Prior to June 26, 2007, water-stage recorder at site 0.5 mi downstream at different datum.
REMARKS - Flow regulated to some extent since 1964 by Keith Sebelius Lake (station 06847950), 48.4 mi upstream, and by irrigation development upstream from station. Satellite telemeter at station.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge for period of record: 15,000 cfs on June 23, 1947 from rating curve extended above 6,500 cfs on basis of contracted-opening measurement of 11,300 cfs. Corresponding stage was 21.04 ft., site and datum then in use.
