LOCATION - Lat 35°11'16", long 89°58'32" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Shelby County, TN, Hydrologic Unit 08010210, at center of downstream side of bridge on Hollywood Street, 0.2 mi south of Interstate 240, 6.1 mi upstream of Mississippi River, and at mile 5.2.
DRAINAGE AREA - 788 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1985 to May 1989, continuous stage only, February 1995 to September 2000, unpublished stage and discharge. October 2000 to December 13, 2022, continuous stage and discharge. (Station discontinued December 13, 2022).
GAGE - Data collection platform. Datum of gage is 191.2 ft above NAVD88 from reference mark provided by the City of Memphis.
REMARKS - Stage is affected by backwater from the Mississippi River when the Mississippi River is at a stage of 19 ft or higher.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge affected by backwater estimated to be 32,000 ft³/s, April 29, 2011; maximum gage height affected by backwater, 42.82 ft. May 9, 2011; minimum daily discharge 177 ft³/s, Aug. 23,29 2007.
CLIMATOLOGICAL RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - June 17, 2016 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - Tipping bucket rain gage, standard 8 inch diameter funnel which is located 8 feet above the ground surface and is not equipped with a wind shield or heater.
REMARKS - Precipitation data collected during freezing periods may not be accurately reflected in daily record.
