LOCATION - Lat 36°55'41.2", long 90°15'55.0" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NW 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.2, T.26 N., R.7 E., Wayne County, MO, Hydrologic Unit 08020203, on right bank at downstream side of highway bridge, 0.5 mi southeast of Wappapello, and 1.25 mi downstream from Wappapello Dam.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,311 mi².

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Oct 1940 to Sep 30, 1997, Oct 1, 1998 to current year. Since Jan 1939 in reports of the Mississippi River Commission. Gage-height records collected in this vicinity since Apr 1920 in reports of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
REVISED RECORDS - WSP 1211: Drainage area.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 314.56 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Prior to Oct 1, 1984, at datum 10.00 ft higher at present site. Prior to Oct 14, 1940, nonrecording gage at same site.
REMARKS - Accuracy of records is discussed in the annual Station Analysis archived at the USGS MO Water Science Center.   Flow completely regulated by Wappapello Lake, 1.3 mi upstream.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum stage since 1920, 30.7 ft, former datum, May 15, 1933, discharge 82,500 ft³/s, determined by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Maximum discharge, as determined by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, 85,000 ft³/s, Aug 1915, stage unknown.
