LOCATION - Lat 36°28'07", long 95°02'28" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.14, T.23 N., R.21 E., Mayes County, OK, Hydrologic Unit 11070206, on upstream side of pier near right end of Pensacola Dam on Neosho River at Langley, 9.9 mi upstream from Big Cabin Creek, and at mile 77.0.
DRAINAGE AREA - 10,345 mi². From automated delineation using 10-meter National Elevation Dataset digital elevation model data dated 10/01/2006 and Watershed Boundary Dataset dated 10/01/2006, using Albers Equal-Area Projection, North American Datum 1983.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - March 1940 to current year. Prior to October 1940, published as Grand Lake at Langley. Monthly contents only for 1941-42 water year
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' satellite telemeter at station. Datum of gage is 1.44 feet above NAVD 88. The current datum determined by a GNSS Level II survey (REF FRAME: NAD_83(2011)(EPOCH:2010.0000) ITRF2014 (EPOCH:2021.5912)[NAVD88 (Computed using GEOID18)]) and tied to RP-2. Prior to 10/01/2021 datum was 1.10 feet above NGVD 1929. (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers benchmark). Prior to Nov. 14, 1941, nonrecording gage at same site and datum.
REMARKS -

Quality of data for all periods can be obtained by contacting the Oklahoma-Texas Water Science Center.

Reservoir is formed by multiple-arch concrete dam, with tops of taintor-type spillway gates at gage height 755.0 ft. Storage began Mar. 21, 1940; power-pool was first filled Apr. 19, 1941. Contents Rating 1 in use Oct. 01, 1940 to Sep. 30, 1996. Contents Rating 2 in use Oct. 01, 1996 to Dec. 31, 2020. Contents Rating 3 in use Jan. 01, 2021 to current. Rating 3 also provides the calculation for the Dec. 31, 2020 daily observation at midnight of reservoir content. 

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum contents, 2,213,000 acre-ft, May 25, 1957, gage height, 755.27 ft, computed from contents table then in use; minimum since power-pool was first filled, 642,900 acre-ft, Sept. 28, 1954, gage height, 713.41 ft., computed from contents table then in use.
