LOCATION - Lat 36°26'20", long 95°02'54" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.27, T.23 N., R.21 E., Mayes County, OK, Hydrologic Unit 11070209, Located near upstream left abutment on State Highway 82, 1.5 mi south of Langley, 4.1 mi downstream from Pensacola Dam, 5.8 mi upstream from Big Cabin Creek, and at mile 72.9.

DRAINAGE AREA - 10,385 mi². From automated delineation using 10-meter National Elevation Dataset digital elevation model data dated 10/01/2006 and Watershed Boundary Dataset dated 10/01/2006, using Albers Equal-Area Projection, North American Datum 1983.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1939 to current year.

GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 607.65 feet above NAVD 88. Current datum determined by a GNSS Level II survey REF FRAME: NAD_83(2011)(EPOCH:2010.0000) ITRF2014 (EPOCH:2021.5906)[NAVD88 (Computed using GEOID18)] and tied to RM-20. Prior to 10/01/2021 the datum in use was 607.65 feet above NGVD 1929 (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers benchmark). Prior to Feb. 16, 1940, nonrecording gage at site 0.1 mi upstream at same datum. Feb. 10, 1954 to Sept. 30, 1963, water-stage recorder at site 0.5 mi downstream at same datum. From Oct. 1963 to Oct. 2015 gage location was 0.5 miles upstream of the current Hwy 82 bridge. Oct. 2015 to current, the gage location is at Hwy 82 bridge. Auxiliary water-stage recorders at sites 2.0 and 3.0 mi upstream at same datum, from Oct. 1964 to Oct. 2015. Flow regulated since 1940 by Lake O' The Cherokees (station 0719000).

Low flow values of 42 ft³/s consist of estimated base flow Oct. 2005 to April 2016

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum peak flow of 300,000 cubic feet per second is derived from computations of overflow from Lake O' the Cherokees. The maximum peak stage value of 45.50 ft. is from a floodmark.
