LOCATION - Lat 34°21'16", long 99°44'24" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Hardeman County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 11130101, near left bank at downstream side of bridge on State Highway 6, 2.0 mi downstream from confluence of North and South Groesbeck Creeks, 4.0 mi north of Quanah, and 9.0 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 303 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Nov. 1961 to current year. Prior to Oct. 1974, published as "Groesbeck Creek at State Highway 283". PERIOD OF RECORD, Water-Quality.-- CHEMICAL DATA: Dec. 1965 to Oct. 1967, July 1971. BIOCHEMICAL DATA: Dec. 1965 to Oct. 1967.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1,425.69 ft above NGVD of 1929. Satellite telemeter at station.
REMARKS - Some records listed in the "Period of Record" for surface water and water quality may not be available electronically. No known regulation. There are several diversions upstream from station for farm and ranch use and for a gypsum plant. No flow at times.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - The highest peak known occurred in June 1891, and the highest peak since 1891 occurred in Sept. 1929, stages unknown. Other large floods are reported to have occurred in 1912, 1936, 1946, 1951, 1955, and 1957, from information by local residents.
