08062895 Kings Creek at State Highway 34 near Kaufman, TX
LOCATION - Lat 32°33'22", long 96°20'20" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Kaufman County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 12030107, on upstream side of State Highway 34 bridge, 2.9 mi southwest of Kaufman, and 4.0 mi northeast of Scurry. 
DRAINAGE AREA - 224 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Mar. 2009 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 300.00 ft above NGVD of 1929 and 303.25 ft above NAVD of 1988. Prior to Feb. 2022, gage was located 90 feet downstream on the downstream side of old State Highway 34 bridge. Satellite telemeter at station.
REMARKS - During the year, the cities of Terrell and Kaufman returned sewage effluent into the creek above this station. Flow is affected at times by discharge from the flood-detention pools of 28 floodwater-retarding structures with a combined detention capacity of 14,560 acre-ft. These structures control runoff from 46.8 mi² in the Cedar Creek drainage basin.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge since at least 1949, 56,200 ft³s, Apr. 1976, from downstream discontinued station 08062900 (Kings Creek near Kaufman, TX).
