08130700 Spring Creek above Twin Buttes Reservoir near San Angelo, TX

LOCATION - Lat 31°19'51", long 100°36'02" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Tom Green County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 12090102, on right bank at confluence of Spring and Dove Creeks, 2.3 mi downstream from Spring Creek above Tankersley (station 08129300), 4.3 mi downstream from Dove Creek at Knickerbocker (station 08130500), 4.9 mi upstream from Twin Buttes Reservoir Dam, and 13.2 mi southwest of San Angelo.

DRAINAGE AREA - 688 mi² of which 31 mi² probably is noncontributing.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD - Oct. 2001 to Sept. 2003 (daily mean discharges less than 12 ft³/s), Oct. 2003 to Sept. 2012 (daily mean discharges less than 57 ft³/s), Oct. 2013 to current year (discharges less than 78 ft³/s).

GAGE - Water-stage recorder and concrete dam. Datum of gage is 1,930.78 ft. above NAVD88 as determined by level II GNSS survey. Prior to Feb. 24, 2021, the elevation of the gage station was listed at 1,950.0 ft. above NGVD29, from a topographic map. Satellite telemeter at station.

Site is regulated by weir dams at approximate river mileages upstream of the gaging site on Spring Creek at the following locations:

Unnamed dam 0.45 mi. upstream, Ripple Reservoir dam 0.85 mi. upstream, unnamed dam at USGS site 08129300 2.38 mi. upstream, Rust Reservoir dam 3.08 mi. upstream, unnamed dam 4.50 mi. upstream, unnamed dam 4.92 mi. upstream, unnamed dam 5.57 mi. upstream, Metcalfe's Spring Creek Reservoir 6.30 mi. upstream, unnamed dam 7.34 mi. upstream, unnamed dam 8.59 mi. upstream, and Ball Reservoir dam 9.27 mi. upstream. Other unnamed dams exist upstream of Ball Reservoir that regulate this site.

Site is regulated by weir dams at approximate river mileages upstream of the gaging site on the Dove Creek tributary to Spring Creek at the following locations:
