  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

USGS Water-Year Summary 2023
08211503 Rincon Bayou Channel near Calallen, TX
LOCATION - Lat 27°53'48", long 97°37'31" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, San Patricio County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 12110111, on the left bank, 800 ft downstream of the Nueces River, about 1400 ft downstream from bridge on Interstate Highway 37, and 2.8 mi NNE of Calallen.
DRAINAGE AREA - Indeterminate
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 1996 to Aug. 2000, Dec. 2003 to current year (daily mean discharges less than 400 ft 3/s).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and acoustic velocity meter. Datum of gage is 5.00 ft. above NAVD of 1988. Satellite telemeter at station.
REMARKS - Records fair for water year, except those estimated, which are poor. No or negative flow some days. Flow in channel is bi-directional and determined by Nueces Bay tides and discharge at Nueces River at Calallen (station 08211500), 1.2 mi upstream. Depending on tide and river conditions, runoff events into the bay can generate very large positive and negative flows. Daily mean discharge determined after applying Godin Filter to remove tidal effects from unit values. Some records listed in the "Period of Record" for surface water may not be available electronically.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum gage height, 9.39 ft, July 14, 2007; minimum discharge, -88 ft³/s, Apr. 13, 2007.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - SEDIMENT DATA: Sept. 19, 2006.
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Mar. 2004 to current year. WATER TEMPERATURE: Mar. 2004 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - A 2-parameter continuous water-quality monitor since Mar. 2004.
REMARKS - Interruptions or periods of missing record may be due to instrument failure, no flow conditions, or data corrections exceeding allowable criteria, which were deleted. Other than no flow conditions, minimum and maximum extremes may have occurred during period of missing record. Due to the nature of estuary conditions, there is a potential to have extreme variability in specific conductance from one hour to the next. Practical salinity units at 25°C are available upon request.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Maximum, 90,000 microsiemens/cm, May 15, 2009; minimum, 212 microsiemens/cm Sept. 20, 2010. WATER TEMPERATURE: Maximum, 39.3°C, July 17, 2010; minimum, 1.0°C, Dec. 25, 2004.
