LOCATION - Lat 34°03'48", long 104°18'24" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, De Baca County, NM, Hydrologic Unit 13060003,

on left bank 1.2 mi south of Van Eaton Ranch, 2.5 mi upstream from Arroyo de la Mora, 2.7 mi downstream from Blanco Canyon, 15 mi east of Dunlap, and at mile 638.1.

DRAINAGE AREA - 6,647 mi² of which 73 mi² probably is noncontributing.  
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1993 to September 2014. October 2014 to current (daily mean discharges less than 300 ft³/s).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 3750.78 ft above NAVD88 as determined by a GNSS Level II rapid-static survey performed by the USGS on January 8, 2021.
REMARKS - Water year 2014; records good except for estimated discharges, which are poor. Water year 2015; records fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor. Water years 2016-2018; records poor. Water year 2019-2022; records fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor. Flow partly regulated by Lake Sumner (station 08384000). Diversion for irrigation of about 19,100 acres (1959 determination) upstream from station. Discharge in general represents return flow from irrigated areas in the Fort Sumner Irrigation Project.
