LOCATION - Lat 32°32'35.48", long 104°22'15.96" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Eddy County, NM, Hydrologic Unit 13060011, on left bank 0.8 mi downstream from Brantley Dam, 3.2 mi downstream from South Seven Rivers, 4.7 mi southeast of Seven Rivers, 6.4 mi south of Lakewood, 11.0 mi northwest of Carlsbad, and at mile 477.8.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - January 1947 to September 1950, October 1971 to current year. Prior to October 1989, published as "below Major Johnson Springs." Prior to October 1988, operated as a low-flow station only. Records prior to October 1971 not equivalent due to spring inflow between sites.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 3192.76 ft above NAVD88 as determined by a GNSS Level II rapid-static survey performed by the USGS on June 17, 2020. Prior to Oct. 1971, at site 1.3 mi upstream at different datum. Oct. 1971 to June 4, 1985, at site 0.8 mi upstream at datum 7.29 ft higher. Prior to Oct. 1988, at site 0.2 mi downstream at same datum.
