SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Aug. 1939 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with concrete control and measuring flume. Current Datum of the Gage is 2,284.513ft (NAVD88) as defined in September of 2022. Prior to this, the Elevation of the gage was 2,290.00ft above NGVD of 1929, picked from topographic map; and was undefined prior to water year 2000. Supplementary water-stage recorder, 7.2 mi downstream at a datum 2,269.65 ft above NGVD of 1929, was used as the regular gage prior to July 17, 1951, after which it was used only for peaks exceeding about 750 ft^3/s, and was discontinued and removed in the 2014 Water Year.
COOPERATION - Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), the USGS Ground and Streamflow Information Program (GWSIP), and Texas water Development Board (TWDB).
REMARKS - Since installation of gage at least 10% of contributing drainage area has been regulated. There are numerous diversions upstream of station for irrigation. Some records listed in the "Period of Record" for surface water and water quality may not be available electronically.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of Sept. 1932 reached a stage of 17 feet, discharge not determined; information supplied by local residents.
